I just wanted to send a note letting you know how awesome your Arriva Sport-Tec� socks performed in my last race � the Jungle Marathon! I ran over 200km of dense Amazon Jungle and finished 7th in solo, and 1st with my team � Team Sharkies USA. The competition was fierce and the terrain unforgiving. Several swamp crossings and river swims of up to 200 meters combined with off camber trail and super steep hills made even the hardest racer�s feet break down into a bloody blistered mess. On the second stage I had a blister that had to be removed by scalpel. I ran the rest of the week with this and to the astonishment of the Podiatrist that was on staff, my foot actually healed as I ran! Maybe this wouldn�t have been such a big deal at another ultra event, but keep in mind that we were always wet, dirty and covered in the scariest bugs and who knows what you have ever seen. The Amazon is the perfect breeding ground for infection! The long stage of 85 km again saw us practically bushwhacking the Amazon and then running on deep, sandy trail. Again, terrible for feet! I got through this stage in 11th place just minutes behind 9th. After approx. 17 hours of scrambling through swamp, running through sand and trekking through jungle I got in with reasonable injury to my feet. I�m convinced your socks staved off worse injury. Here�s the craziest thing � even after all of this crazy racing your socks are in great shape. I washed them and they look like new. No small feat (no pun intended!). I will be wearing your socks as I compete in the Trans 333 in Africa in November, which is a 333 km non-stop footrace straight through the Tenere Desert in Niger.
